St. Rita offers 2 tracks of college preparatory
education:
Both of these programs offer our young men the essential tools they need
for success at the college level. In addition our challenging
assortment of electives gives our students the opportunity to explore
their interests and personal ambitions, and enrich their knowledge base.
-
Honors Program:
Incoming freshmen are invited to participate in the honors
program on the basis of their entrance exam score and recommendation
from their grade school teacher. Final placement is agreed
upon by St. Rita administration and parents of the student.
Participation in the honors program is evaluated at the conclusion
of each academic year. Those in the honors program are
invited, as seniors, to participate in the A.P. program, which
allows them to earn college credit while in high school.

Academic Program:
Students placed in the Academic Program receive the highest
quality college preparatory curriculum offered by any high school.
Each year St. Rita
High School admits students who demonstrate the need for remediation
in the area of mathematics or the area of reading or both. Our
program provides a summer school session prior to admission and
special classes in the freshmen year to address these academic
needs. Sophomore year brings some mainstreaming, with full
mainstreaming in the junior year. Our college prep curriculum
is the same for these young men, as for all of our St. Rita
students, but the sequence of classes is different.
Graduation Requirements
-
A minimum of 22 credits must be obtained for
graduation. We urge students, however, to achieve much
more than that, to not settle for the minimum, but rather attain
as many of the maximum as possible.
Grade Achievement
In order to advance into sophomore,
junior, or senior year, a student
must acquire four (4) units in
addition to Theology and Physical
Education. Any student who
does not acquire 4 units plus
Theology offering in a scholastic
year must make up the deficiencies
in St. Rita Summer School, or be
subject to expulsion. Seniors
needing to make up a deficiency in
order to earn a diploma must do so
under the direction of the Vice
President of Academics.
