Great Turnout for Annual St. Rita Fall Baseball Hitting Clinic

On Saturday, September 19, Head Baseball Coach Mike Zunica and his staff hosted over 70 grade school baseball players for their annual Fall Hitting Clinic.  The camp was attended by some 5th and 6th graders, but the majority of the audience was made up of local 7th and 8th graders who were trying to learn a few things about the finer points of hitting from the St. Rita Coaching Staff and their players.

After a rainy Friday, the skies cleared just in time for the camp to be held outside in St. Rita’s state-of-the-art outdoor hitting cages as well as in the outfield of the varsity baseball field.  Coach Zunica discussed drills the campers could do to help them become better hitters.  Then the campers were broken into groups to practice the various drills that were discussed.

The number of attendees was up by over 25 as compared to last year’s fall hitting clinic, which attracted 45 grammar schoolers on a cold, wet September afternoon.  Coach Zunica will host another camp, “Be a Player, Not a Prospect,” in late December at the Bo Dome in Lockport. Details will appear on the St. Rita website as the date draws closer, or you can contact Head Baseball Coach Mike Zunica at (773) 925-6600 ext. 6619 for more details.
