Mustang Run Game Comes Alive In Big Homecoming Win

The St. Rita Mustangs have earned the reputation of being a run-first, smash-mouth football program over the years.  In struggling to an uncharacteristic 1-4 start, that run game has been missing.  On Homecoming Friday night at Doyle Stadium, it returned in a big way led by senior captain Brandon Williams, who rushed for over 200 yards and 3 TDs leading the Mustangs to a convincing 42-21 win over Aurora Christian.

The St. Rita defense chipped in to the scoring barrage as well as junior defensive back Sean Macander returned an Eagle pass for a TD and senior captain Mike Tiernan returned an INT to the 1-yd line, setting up junior QB Connor Kelly for his 2nd rushing TD of the night.

The Mustangs, who must win out in their final 3 games to qualify for the 7A playoffs for the 15th time in the last 16 years, travel to Elmhurst College this Friday night to battle St. Joseph's before returning home the final two weeks to play Catholic Blue rivals Loyola and Brother Rice.
