Five St. Rita of Cascia High School Mustangs Sign to College Football
For Immediate Release February 3, 2010
Five members of the Fighting Mustangs, St. Rita of Cascia High School’s football team, signed national letters of intent on Wednesday, February 3, 2010. These Ritamen helped St. Rita obtain its most recent Prep Bowl Championship and look forward to the opportunity to play college football. The players’ parents were present for the signing, along with Head Football Coach Todd Kuska, Athletic Director Mike Zunica, Assistant Athletic Director Zach Blaszak, and Principal Sally Deenihan.

Joe Campagna (LB) signed a letter of intent to attend Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. He was congratulated by his parents, Joe and Peggy Campagna. Joe attended St. Cajetan School and resides in the Beverly neighborhood of Chicago. Speaking about his signing Joe said, “I am glad I will have the opportunity to play college football. I give credit to all the teachers and coaches at St. Rita who have helped me get to the college level.”
Dan Connolly (DE) signed a letter of intent to attend Northwood University in Midland, Michigan. He was congratulated by his parents, Mike and Mary Pat Connolly. Dan attended St. Catherine of Alexandria School and resides in the Mt. Greenwood neighborhood of Chicago. Dan will also be a member Northwood’s baseball team. Dan said, “I am grateful for the opportunity Northwood has given me. I am looking forward to working hard and getting out as much as I put into my experience there. I am thankful and could not have made it to this point without the help and guidance of my St. Rita Family.”
Bruce Gaston, Jr. (DT) signed a letter of intent to attend Purdue University. He was congratulated by his parents, Bruce and Cheretha Gaston. Bruce attended Our Lady of the Gardens School and resides in Glenwood, IL. Speaking of his decision Bruce said, “Purdue just felt right to me. It has great academics, athletics, and an overall great atmosphere. I knew it was the best place for me and where I want to spend the next few years of my life.”
Tim Ladd (OT) signed a letter of intent to attend St. Xavier University. He was congratulated by his parents, Dave and Peggy Ladd. Tim attended St. Cajetan School and lives in the Beverly neighborhood of Chicago. At the signing Tim said, “It will be exciting to become a part of a great football program that is also close to home. I love that I have the opportunity to attend St. Xavier and will be able to work toward winning a national championship with the Cougars.”
Ron McNamara (LB) signed a letter of intent to attend Northwood University in Midland, Michigan. He was congratulated by his parents, William and Mary McNamara. Ron attended St. Mary Star of the Sea School and resides in Oak Lawn, IL. Ron said, “I am excited to be a part of the football program at Northwood and attend a great university. I look forward to playing in the best Division II conference in the country.”
Connolly, McNamara, and Campagna will all be playing Division II football in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Therefore, in the coming years Connolly and McNamara will be playing opposite Campagna as their two teams face-off.
The five Ritamen were enthusiastic during the signing and gave thanks to their parents, families, and friends for supporting them. These are five outstanding young men that have been very active and successful while at St. Rita High School. They have numerous academic, athletic, and extracurricular achievements and St. Rita congratulates them as they prepare to begin their next journey in life.
