Advanced-Placement Spanish Students Visit Mexican Fine Arts Museum in Pilsen

Ms. Yanez's AP Spanish Students Learn About Latino Culture in Pilsen

St. Rita AP Spanish Students Cal Greenfield, Marco Soriano, Trevor Scianna, Carlos Castillo, Andy Prado, Daniel Martinez, John Ocampo, Zamir Saenz took a walking tour through Pilsen on Tuesday, February 16th.

They visited Cooper Dual Language Academy and Orozco Academy to view the tile art  on the outside of the buildings. The group also walked through the streets and saw many murals that depict Hispanic Heritage and symbolism.

Along the way, the Ritamen stopped for homemade tamales, delicious churros, and amazing tacos! (You really can't have a Spanish Class field trip without food.)

Lastly, the field trip ended with a visit to also the National Museum of Mexican Art (formerly known as the Mexican Fine Arts Museum) where the students participated in an Art Scavenger Hunt. The National Museum of Mexican Art is the largest facility of its kind in the nation.

The students are currently working on a research project that focuses on the art pieces they viewed on the trip.
