Field Trip to the Chicago FED and Chicago Mercantile Exchange

Mr. Dave Conrath ‘Hon with St. Rita High School Economics and Accounting Students.

It was a snow-filled day on Thursday, February 26.

The six+ inches of fresh lake-effect powder and gridlock on the expressways didn’t deter Mr. Conrath and about 50 students from his Economics and Accounting classes from completing a successful field trip to downtown Chicago to visit the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, one of 12 regional Reserve Banks across the United States serving as the central bank for the United States, and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, the world’s most diverse derivatives marketplace, processing three billion contracts worth approximately $1 quadrillion annually.
