Philosophy of St. Rita Soccer

Our top priority is to help our student-athletes become successful.  We do not believe success is reflected on the scoreboard nor in the win-loss column, but rather in the preparation, hard work, and desire athletes put forth in making themselves better.  We believe the soccer program at Saint Rita can help the student athlete become successful beyond the school campus by providing them with skills they can use for the rest of their lives.  These life-long skills that serve as the foundation of the SR soccer program include:

Responsibility – Athletes must learn how to be responsible to themselves by taking care of their health and their studies.  In addition, they must be responsible to the team and their teammates by giving 100% effort all the time.

Sportsmanship – Winners have a positive attitude that carry them through even the toughest times; they play fair; they recognize and praise their opponents’ effort; and they respect officials in their effort to enforce the laws of the game.

Teamwork – There is no “I” in TEAM.  We all work for a common goal and we stay united in good times and bad.  We encourage each other to do our best because we are a family, united in friendship and work.

Discipline – To achieve greater goals, athletes must work together to achieve the smaller goals.  Athletes must understand that even the smallest goals can’t be achieved without discipline, dedication, and the help of others.
