St. Rita of Cascia High School bestows the “Mustang of the Month” award every month during the academic year to notable students from each class. Faculty and staff nominate students based on the student’s overall achievements and involvement at the school. The award winners are then selected from those nominated by an award committee comprised of members from the Activities Team, Athletic Department, Guidance Office and Dean’s Office. The following students were selected the January 2012 Mustangs of the Month: Freshman – Richard Goggin (Evergreen Park, St. John Fisher School) As a freshman, Richard is a member of the Soccer and Track teams as well as the Knights of Augustine. During his free time, Richard volunteers at the PADS shelter, The Mantle, The Chicago Food Depository and he tutors at St. John Fisher after school.
According to Richard, “St. Rita has given me a home away from home. I can be myself here and I’ve made friends here that I will have for a lifetime.”

Eamon also volunteers his time coaching grammar school basketball and is a lector at his parish, St. Barbara.
Eamon says, “My two years at St. Rita so far have been some of the best times of my life and I can’t wait to see what lies ahead of me. Coming to St. Rita was easily one of the best decisions of my life.”
Junior – Luke Blaeser (Evergreen Park, St. Bernadette School) Luke is a member of St. Bernadette parish, where he teaches CCD, participates in the youth group, and is a Eucharistic Minister. While at St. Rita, Luke has been a part of the football, wrestling and track teams, while also working as a manager for both football and baseball. Luke is a member of the Peacebuilders Initiative and volunteers much of his time at a local food pantry.
About his time at St. Rita, Luke says, “Throughout my three years at St. Rita, I have learned a lot about many different things and I have grown so much in my faith.”
