Daniel Gleaves - Freshman Daniel comes to St. Rita from Homer Glen, Il., where he graduated from Oak Prairie Junior High School. While there he was a member of the National Junior Honor Society and the football team. Daniel is a member of the Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Homer Glen. So far, in his early career at St. Rita, Daniel is a member of the football team where he stars as the starting tailback. In his community he is an assistant football coach of the Homer Stallions.

Daniel had this to say about his time here at St. Rita. “Being a Ritaman has made me feel great and it is good to know that I’m part of something as big as St. Rita High School. I have learned more in these five weeks about being a good person than I have anywhere else.”

 

Shane Piesker - Sophomore

Shane comes to St. Rita from Highland, IN., where he graduated from Highland Middle School and is a member of St. James the Less parish. At St. Rita, Shane is a standout on the baseball diamond playing on the sophomore team as a freshman. He also volunteers with Little League baseball in his community and began running banquets with a close friend who is battling cancer.

When asked about his time so far at St. Rita Shane says, “St. Rita has opened many options for me and looking back in a few years, I know I won’t regret coming here to school.”

Nick Goldsmith - Junior

Nick comes to St. Rita from Dyer, Indiana. He is a graduate of Kahler Middle School and a member of St. Maria Goretti Parish. While at St. Rita, Nick has participated in baseball, soccer, and football. He is a member of the National Honor Society and Student Government. Nick has also been involved with the South Florida Marlins baseball team and Three Irons Soccer Club. Nick has also been named a top 10 finalist for the US Army and Pro Football Hall of Fame National Student-Athlete award.

In describing his time at St. Rita, Nick says, “At first, it was hard to make the decision to come so far to school, not knowing many people, but the friends I’ve made, great times I’ve had, and the St. Rita Family that I’ve become a part of, has made it the best decision of my life.”

Jon Holubik – Senior Jon is a graduate from Queen of Martyrs grade school. While at St. Rita Jon has played football his freshman and sophomore years, swimming his junior and senior years and Lacrosse all 4 years. He has been involved in Student Government, National Honor Society and flag football. Outside of St. Rita Jon has worked with PADS, and is the recipient of Shedd Aquarium’s High School Marine Biology program award.

When asked to reflect of his time here at St. Rita, Jon says, “St. Rita has been a home to me the past four years and I have enjoyed every moment of it.”
