St. Rita of Cascia High School Inducts Students into the Knights of Augustine

KOASt. Rita of Cascia High School recently inducted 87 students as members in the Knights of Augustine.  The Knights of Augustine is a fraternal order of Ritamen comprised of students from all four grade levels that strives to embody the Augustinian core values of Truth, Unity and Love through active prayer and service.  At many times during the course of an academic year, events and programs are sponsored by the Knights of Augustine which bring members of the St. Rita Family together in order to strengthen faith, service and community life.  Through these events, members of the Knights of Augustine promote the Catholic, Augustinian ideals of St. Rita High School and act as exemplary members of the student body, as witnessed in their works and actions. Members in the Knights of Augustine must participate in numerous prayer and service opportunities throughout the course of an academic semester.  Members attend monthly meetings and pray together regularly at the Thursday Morning Novena to St. Rita and attend special Masses.  Each member of the Knights of Augustine is in also an active participant one of the five Knights of Augustine Commissions: service, prayer, faith formation, liturgy or social awareness.  In addition, members take part in special service and community building projects.

The Knights of Augustine is led by St. Rita’s Campus Ministry Team and a Knights of Augustine Leadership Council of juniors and seniors who have dedicated themselves to the Knights of Augustine throughout their high school career.  These students serve as leaders at Knights of Augustine events, and also meet regularly to plan events and suggest new ideas.

“The Knights of Augustine truly live the core values of St. Rita.  These students dedicate so much of their own time not only to regular meetings, but to actually practicing their faith through their actions.  They commit to their designated commission and take the responsibility seriously.  It's very affirming to see our young men excited about living out the faith,” said St. Rita’s Director of Campus Ministry Mr. Josh Blaszak ’02.
