After an uncharacteristically disappointing 3-6 regular season, the Mustangs now have new life with a bid to the 2015 Prep Bowl Playoffs. With the entire CCL Blue Champion sophomore team and a few freshmen added to the roster, practices have been spirited and competitive as the Mustangs prepare to host Catholic League rival DeLaSalle Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Doyle Stadium.

The Meteors (4-5) head to town coming off of a tough 43-35 loss to an 8-1 Bishop Mac team which prevented them from qualifying for the state playoffs. The Mustangs, who took Bother Rice to the brink last Friday before losing 37-21, are led by All-Catholic League 1st-team members Mike Tiernan, Thomas Stacker, Joe Doweiko, and Tim Zaleski. St. Rita has also gotten a late season spark from junior running back Shaun Rule, who sat out the first six games of the season with a back injury. Rule had over 200 yards of offense vs. Brother Rice on Friday including a 70-yard run and an 80-yard TD reception.

With a win on Friday, the Mustangs would then wait to see if any state playoff teams (St. Ignatius, DePaul Prep, Mt. Carmel, Loyola, Brother Rice, St. Laurence) lose and enter the Prep Bowl Playoffs.
