The St. Rita Mustangs entered week two of the 2015 football season looking to even their record to 1-1 as the Dunbar Mighty Men rolled into Doyle Stadium on Friday, September 4, 2015.
Before the game, St. Rita Coach Chuck Zeman '68 received a plaque and was honored by Fr. Bernard Danber, O.S.A. '68, President Ernie Mrozek ' 71, Principal Brendan Conroy HON, Athletic Director Mike Zunica HON, Head Coach Todd Kuska '90 and the home crowd for his retirement, after twenty-five years of service to St. Rita Football.
To the delight of the large Doyle Stadium crowd, led by the Marching Mustangs Band and including the Hawaiian-themed student section, The Mustangs secured the convincing 49-14 home-field victory with sophomore running back Darius Allen and junior quarterback Connor Kelly each contributing a pair of touchdowns in the non-conference matchup.
Another notable aspect of Friday's game was the fact that it marked the 550th consecutively-attended home St. Rita Mustangs Football game for one of the most staunch and true Ritamen--Dr. Gerardo Grieco '72, or Doc Grieco, as he is known to all in the St. Rita Family. After the game, the entire varsity team and St. Rita Family presented Doc with a team-signed St. Rita Game ball and a hearty congratulations and thank you for his loyal support
