Unseasonably cool weather was welcomed by grade school football players from ten different parishes on Wednesday evening. Players from St. Barnabas, St. Cajetan, St. Catherine of Alexandria, Christ the King, St. Christina, St. Linus, St. Michael, Our Lady of the Ridge, Queen of Martyrs and St. Symphorosa all enjoyed friendly competition on the one of the best high school artifical playing surfaces--on Pat Cronin Field at Doyle Stadium on St. Rita's campus.
The athletes heard encouraging words from President Mr. Ernie Mrozek '71, Principal Brendan Conroy HON, Fr. Steve Curry, O.S.A., Ed.D. and Head Coach Todd Kuska '90 prior to the start of the jamboree. The young players were also able to meet and visit with St. Rita High School football players, often reconnecting with fellow parishioners from their neighborhood.
Since St. Rita High School started grade school football jamborees decades ago, the goal has always been to open our campus and playing fields to encourage camaraderie, teamwork, good sportsmanship, fitness, and excellence in youth sports.
We invite all grade school students to return to campus often for St. Rita home games in every sport. Remember that all grade school students are admitted free to all athletic events at St. Rita High School (excluding IHSA playoffs). Check out our home schedules on our athletic page of the website.
St. Rita High School wishes all grade school athletes a successful fall sports season!
