The St. Rita Class of 2018 keeps racking up the scholarship money as four more members of the class will not have to pay for college.

Senior Ryan Quinn earned the Merit Scholarship from the University of Chicago.  The scholarship is for children of Chicago Police Officers or Chicago Firefighters.  The student must first be accepted to the school based upon his or her grades before consideration.  Ryan, who holds a 4.3/4.0 GPA while scoring a 31 on the ACT, beat out several other applicants for the scholarship.  Ryan was a fullback and defensive lineman for the varsity football team as well as a wrestler for the varsity wrestling team.

Senior Connor Cahill, who was a 2-year starting center and captain for the varsity football team, earned his scholarship to Lake Forest College where he will continue his football career.  Cahill is also a very active member of the St. Rita Student Government, and he’s member of the ABC (Advice Beyond the Classroom) club, which was started by St. Rita graduate Nick LoMaglio ’04 to help St. Rita students learn the necessary skills outside the classroom to become successful not only in college but in real life beyond.

Senior Aaron Jones, an offensive and defensive lineman for the varsity football team, earned a scholarship to Olivet Nazarene University where he will continue his football career, and senior all-catholic league running back Chris Childers earned a full-tuition scholarship to play football at Indiana State University, continuing a tradition of Mustangs who have played for the Sycamores, including: Jack Byrne, Nick Dachota, Travis Starks, and Matt Byrne.
