The weather forecasters are calling for a high of 79 degrees and overcast skies tomorrow on the lakefront as the St. Rita Mustangs host the Malvern Prep Friars from Pennsylvania in the High School Kick Off Classic at Soldier Field at 4:00 p.m. Considering that it's the dog days of summer, that's not too shabby.
The mild weather and the anticipated epic showdown between the Augustinian powerhouses (coincidentally on St. Augustine's Feast Day) from Illinois and Pennsylvania have helped spur brisk ticket sales.
In less than 24 hours over 200 current St. Rita students will board busses for Soldier Field. That is in addition to all the Ritamen, family members, friends and football fans who will make their way to the historic gridiron run by the Chicago Park District at 1410 S. Museum Campus Drive.
Before the game, St. Rita High School will host over 120 Malvern Prep visitors and students-athletes at the beautiful 37-acre St. Rita campus. The day will include an all-school morning Mass in the St. Rita Shrine Chapel. celebrating the feast of St. Augustine and lunch in the St. Rita Dining Hall and The McCarthy Center.
Remember that you can still purchase tickets at the gate at Soldier Field if you don't have yours yet.
We look forward to a hard-fought game! Go Rita Go!
