Last week nearly 75 grade school students filled the St. Rita gymnasium to take part in the annual “Night of Champions.” This event that St. Rita has put on for over 30 years, brings in grade school students to compete in various activities from football accuracy throw, to putting contests, to long jump. Each participant competes in each activity with the top 3 being awarded a medal. Of the 75 grade school students spanning 27 different grade schools, 20 of them received a medal in recognition of their athletic excellence that night.
“It was great to have all the student-athletes here tonight,” stated Ed Leiser, Director of the Shadow Program. “St. Rita is about good, fair competition while having some fun. I believe all the student-athletes got to experience all of that tonight.”
