The St. Rita Golf team finished up their season earlier this month having three members of the team advance to the State Sectional Championships. The season was a great one for Head Coach Pete Godfrey and the Mustangs with signature wins coming against De La Salle, Brother Rice, and St. Laurence. The team also excelled in the State Playoffs finishing 5th overall at the IHSA Regionals. Last week the team announced their award finalists and it would be a mixture of youth and experience that took home the honors. Senior Patrick Henry and Sophomore Joey O'Sullivan were named Co-MVP's on the season. Patrick Henry led the team this season in stroke average and Joe O'Sullivan solidified his role in the program putting together a great run at the end of the year in both matches and the postseason championships. Sophomore Matt Fitzgerald was named Most Improved Golfer.
"All these guys are more than deserving of these awards," Coach Godfrey stated. "The season was great and we have all the golfers to thank for that. I know we just ended but I think we are all looking forward to the future of this program, we are really heading in the right direction."
