Jose comes to St. Rita from St. Gall Parish and Grammar school. Jose has participated in the Spanish Club since sophomore year and he has been a tutor for St. Rita students since his junior year. He tutors students in Math and Spanish every day after school for 2 hours. Outside St. Rita he also tutors kids at the Mantle every second and third Saturdays of the month.
When asked to share his thoughts about his 4 years at St. Rita Jose says, “St. Rita is a special place for me that I can call home. I’ve met a lot of good people that helped me when I was struggling. St. Rita has given me the right tools that can help me in the future.”
Jerry Martinez – Junior
Jerry is a member of St. Benedict Parish in Blue Island and a graduate of St. Benedict grammar school. Jerry currently holds a 4.52 gpa and his involvement at St. Rita has been freshman basketball, golf all 3 years, Knights of Augustine, SADD, World Cultures Club, Future Business Leaders of America and NHS. He also a member of the Ronald McDonald House teen board, he has participated in Peace Builders Initiative and is a tutor at his grammar school.
Jerry states, “Being a student at St. Rita has been a blessing and a great experience. I feel that St. Rita is a second home for me”
Kevin Foster – Sophomore
Kevin is a graduate of Sutherland school. Since he has been at St. Rita, Kevin has participated in track & field for 2 years, wrestling this year along with spanish club and SADD. He also volunteers his time at PADS and at The Urban Art Retreat, an art center that teaches underprivileged children art skills.
Kevin says, “My time here at St. Rita so far has just flown by. It seems like just yesterday I was a freshman. I’ve made so many new friends and experienced so many new things too. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me.”
Brandon Williams – Freshman
Brandon is a graduate of Kenwood Academy Academic Center and a member of New Covenant Baptist Church. In the short time Brandon has been at St. Rita is played freshman football and plans on running outdoor track & field. Outside of St. Rita, Brandon participates in the Mt. Greenwood Park disability program and also helps at donating clothing to women & children shelters.
When asked about his time at St. Rita so far he says, “St. Rita is a place of growth and development where I can already see myself growing from a boy to a Ritaman. The people I have met here are friends that I will have forever and St. Rita is a place that I will remember forever.”
