May Mustangs of the Month


Ed Roland – Senior

Ed comes to St. Rita from St. Walter Parish and Grammar School. While at St. Rita Ed was a member of the Track & Field team, the Ritan, and the stock club his freshman & sophomore years. He played basketball his sophomore year, and was a member of the Spanish Club his junior & senior years. Ed played soccer, was a member of the Knights of Augustine and an altar server all four years while at St. Rita. Holding a GPA of 4.15 this year, Ed was also a member of the National Honor Society (NHS). Ed has volunteered his time at his grammar school for different events and as a referee for soccer.

“My time at St. Rita is something that I will always cherish,” Ed says. “The last four years here really made me who I am today and have prepared me for the future. St. Rita will always be a second home for me.”

Nick Bilotta – Junior

Nick is a member of St. Christina Parish and a graduate of St. Christina Grammar School. Nick currently holds a 4.25 GPA and is ranked 23rd in his class. While at St. Rita Nick played football freshman year, golf sophomore year, wrestling both freshman/sophomore years, Spanish club all 3 years, a member of the Natir, yearbook, and Creative Arts Club in his junior year. Nick has been a member of the Marching Mustang band, jazz and symphonic bands all 3 years and Drum Major since sophomore year.

Outside of St. Rita Nick has volunteered his time to the PADS shelter the first Saturday of every month, Youth Ministry at St. Christina and plays guitar at Sunday Masses.

Nick says, “St. Rita has given me many opportunities and has taught me many skills I hope to carry with me for the rest of my life. More than that, it has helped me to understand the three core values and truly deepen my faith. I have made lifelong friendships at St. Rita and I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything in the world.”

Matthew Felmon – Sophomore

Matthew comes to St. Rita from St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish and grammar school. He is ranked #1 in his class with a current GPA of 4.81. Matt was a member of the freshman football team, and played hockey and lacrosse both freshman and sophomore years. He’s a member of student government, SADD, and Spanish club. Matthew does volunteer work at the Oak Lawn Park District and will be attending a leadership seminar this summer.

When asked about his time at St. Rita Matthew says, “My time at St. Rita is something I can’t put into words. Over the past two years I have developed many new friendships and grown stronger as a student. I couldn’t imagine going to school anywhere else. At St. Rita I feel at home and I’m looking forward to what the next two years will bring.”

Dominic Sarro – Freshman

Dominic comes to St. Rita from Mater Christi Parish and Komarek School in Riverside. Dominic is ranked #2 in the freshman class with a 4.70 GPA. He currently is a member of the soccer and baseball teams. Dominic helps out with his local little league baseball program as a coach and he is an altar server at his church.

When asked about his time at St. Rita so far Dominic says, “St. Rita has given me the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. My freshman year has flown by and I know I made the right choice. I hope my next three years are just as special as my first year has been.”
