What is #GivingTuesday?
Since it's conception four years ago, #GivingTuesday (the Tuesday after Thanksgiving) has grown into a day of giving to counter the commercialization and consumerism in the post-Thanksgiving season that includes Black Friday and Cyber Monday. According to Wikipedia, #GivingTuesday has been praised as an antidote to consumer culture and as a way for people to give back.
What #GivingTuesday Means for St. Rita
St. Rita High School is partnering with the global #GivingTuesday movement to support our Annual Appeal, where all funds generated go directly to support the tuition assistance needs of our current Ritamen. On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, charities, families, businesses, students and alumni around the world come together for one common cause: to celebrate generosity and give to worthy causes.
How You Can Help
We ask for your consideration in participating in our #GivingTuesday campaign on December 1, 2015 called #StaunchandTrue on social media. Our goal is to raise $10,950, or the cost of tuition for one St. Rita High School student. Many of our families have yet to fully recover from the significant economic downturn of 2008-2009, so every dollar raised will go to help those families. Please consider donating to St. Rita High School this #GivingTuesday. If you have already made a gift to the St. Rita Annual Appeal thank you!--but please remember that you can still help. Please spread the word by sharing St. Rita's #StaunchandTrue message and hashtag on your personal social media pages.
