Martin Hopkins grew up in the St. Cajetan Parish. He attended St. Rita from 2005-2009. He was involved in activities and athletics all 4 years, he was the Student council President, and a member of the 2006 Football State Championship Team. As a 2009 graduate he went on to the University of Iowa to play football where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 2013 and a Masters in Recreation Sport Management in 2018. He began his coaching career with Iowa in 2013 and he would go on to coach in a variety of different roles. He assisted on offense and special teams before becoming a defensive Graduate Assistant and then an analyst for defense and special teams. Martin was on staff at the University of Iowa from 2013-2020. While there he was a part of several successful seasons including a trip to the Big Ten Championship and a Rose Bowl appearance. He also worked with several successful student-athletes including 4 National Award Winners (Outland Trophy, Lott Trophy, Mackey Award, and Butkus Award) over 15 All-Big Ten Players, 4 NFL First Round Draft Picks, and 25+ NFL Players. After his time at Iowa he got into Software Sales for two years where he became an Account Manager in Commercial Sales for Nasuni in Boston, MA. Martin returned to St. Rita in the fall of 2023 to be the next Head Football Coach. He and his wife Elizabeth, have a son, Leo.
