St. Rita of Cascia High School Announces New Head Lacrosse Coach

Chicago, December 2, 2022 — Deacon John Donahue, J.D., Ed.D., President of St. Rita of Cascia High School announced that Brandon Singleton has been named the new Head Lacrosse Coach. He will begin his career at St. Rita in January 2023 and also take on the role of Admissions and Advancement Coordinator.

“In our search for who would take over the program, Coach Singleton stood out as a lacrosse leader who brings with him a wealth of knowledge of the sport, both as a player and a coach.” Principal Josh Blaszak ‘02 said, “It was clear from the outset that Singleton not only had the resume for the job, but also the passion for it.”

Singleton joins St. Rita from John Burroughs School in St. Louis. He brings with him a decade of coaching experience, eight of which were at the collegiate level including Fontbonne University in St. Louis as Head Coach; Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO as Assistant Coach; and Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO as Defensive Coach.

Originally from Brentwood, NY, Singleton began playing the game at four years old. He took his lacrosse career to the collegiate level at Tennessee Wesleyan University, where he led the team as long-stick midfielder. There, he honed his natural ability for leadership as a four-year starter and three-year captain.

“We didn’t just want to bring in just any coach,” Athletic Director Curtis Price ‘88 explained. “We wanted to make sure we brought someone in with the right credentials who was also going to help the young men at St. Rita grow not only in the sport of lacrosse, but also in their Augustinian values and life in general.”

“As a coach, I believe in three things: respect, hard work, and passion,” Singleton stated about his coaching philosophy. “And by expecting and celebrating these three concepts, I know we can build a program at St. Rita that student athletes will both want to be a part of during high school and leave as better young men prepared to take on the world in stride.”

Singleton received his bachelor’s degree in sports and fitness management with a minor in business from Tennessee Wesleyan College in 2011. He also has earned his master’s degree in education from Fontbonne University.
