2026 St. Rita Hall of Fame Inductee: Chuck Caffrey (HON)

We are honored to induct Chuck Caffrey (HON) into the St. Rita Hall of Fame at our 89th Annual Alumni Banquet & Hall of Fame Dinner.

A proud native of Chicago’s South Side, Chuck Caffrey has devoted more than four decades to St. Rita’s mission and its lasting impact on generations of Mustangs. 

Chuck and his wife, Denise, have shared 36 years of marriage and raised two children, Collyn and Doyle. Doyle, a member of the Class of 2001, proudly followed the St. Rita tradition, as did Chuck’s nephew Phil LaFolette, Class of 1989, with both playing football for the Mustangs. The Caffrey family remains deeply connected to the St. Rita Family.

Professionally, Chuck dedicated 38 years of service to the City of Chicago and is a proud member of Boilermakers Local 1. Yet his greatest legacy has come through his tireless volunteer work on behalf of St. Rita. 

More than 42 years ago, Chuck began volunteering his time to recruit prospective students to the school. Today, at age 79, he continues that mission with the same enthusiasm and commitment that began decades ago. Over the years, Chuck has built relationships with countless grade school programs throughout the area, including St. Cajetan, the Palos Stars, St. Bede, St. Symphorosa, St. René, and St. Daniel, while continuing to work with programs such as St. Gabriel and the Canaryville Lions. Through his dedication, hundreds of young men have found their way to St. Rita. 

Chuck’s service to the school has extended far beyond recruiting. He spent several seasons coaching our sophomore baseball team and has been an active supporter of many school initiatives. He has served on Fathers Club committees, assisted with numerous golf outings, and helped expand the recruiting effort by encouraging others, including John Vaci ‘71 and Bill Piccirillo ‘73, to join in the work. 

Chuck considers being named an Honorary Alumnus as one the proudest moments of his life. His commitment to the school’s mission reflects a lifelong belief in the power of mentorship, opportunity, and community.

For Chuck Caffrey, serving St. Rita has never been about recognition — only about giving back to a place that has meant so much to so many.
