St. Rita Recognized at The Illinois Directors of Student Activities Educator Awards
Congratulations to Mr. Tony Munzing ‘16 and Ms. Katie Hackett as they were recognized at The Illinois Directors of Student Activities Educator Awards.
To be recognized and supported by your students and peers is the ultimate compliment in the profession of education. The Illinois Directors of Student Activities search for amazing, dynamic, creative leaders to be saluted and recognized at the Annual Awards Banquet. The IDSA Awards are given to those who have implemented or supported innovative student activity programs and/or organizations. The Awards Program is a cooperative effort designed both to honor outstanding members in the Student Activities domain and to promote awareness of the quality of student activity clubs, programs, and events being provided in Illinois high schools.
Mr. Munzing received the New Student Activity Advisor Award, which recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions during their first three years as an activity or club advisor.
Mr. Munzing has made a remarkable impact in his first years as a student activity advisor through his leadership of the Big Brothers Mentor Program and the revitalization of the Cooking Club. In Big Brothers, Tony intentionally trains student leaders to mentor by example, teaching responsibility, empathy, and leadership through his own kindness and patience with students. His approach empowers mentors to grow as role models and leaders. In the new Cooking Club, Tony has doubled student participation by creating an exciting, welcoming environment where students are eager to cook, learn, and collaborate. His creativity, passion, and positive attitude have taken both programs to new heights, making him the epitome of what a new club moderator should be.
Ms. Hackett received the Student Activity Advisor Award, which recognizes individuals who, through their time and effort, have made an impact on their club or activity and who exemplify the ideal advisor/sponsor.
Ms. Hackett has made a lasting impact as a Student Activity Advisor through her unwavering time, commitment, and passion for serving students. She exemplifies the ideal club advisor by consistently creating new initiatives that spread kindness and build community throughout the school. Her dedication to the lower levels of Student Government has increased student interest and participation each year, empowering more students to step into leadership roles. Through Caritas Club, which is rooted in the meaning of love, Katie has given our Ritamen a space to actively practice kindness through Feel Good Fridays, meaningful fundraising initiatives, and service experiences that give back to others. Her constant effort, generosity of time, and heart for students have created a culture of love, service, and empowerment that is truly remarkable.
Congratulations, again!
